We, like many of our Indian friends have always cherished a half formulated hardly uttered wish to return to India some day! Now that we have a child who seems to find joy in people, color and sound like we do it seems a little more necessary to translate that thought into action. US is somehwat isolated for Indian kids, although people are friendly there is no running to a neighbour's house and no cricket in the streets.
So, everytime we visit India my husband does the rounds of the academic institutes trying to network and create collaborations. Recently, his position at a well known National Lab in US was under some risk so e intensified our search, and hit the pot of gold! He received a very good position at IIT Delhi. Now starts the biting of nails! Go or stay? If we dont go, do we throw away our only real chance to go? If we stay, will our daughter never know what our India is like?
